I have "experienced" FaceBook before out of shear necessity: last summer one of my nieces got married (in Europe) and the only way for us to see the pictures was through FaceBook!
I think it can be very useful but also very dangerous. Since most young people, including our patrons, are so enemored with it, it would be wise for the library to find ways to incorporate it in our service delivery system.
Waht makes it so popular -- for the most part ego -- I mean seeing oneself on the screen can make one feel like a celebrity! Also, it easy, fast, cool, inexpensive...
Safety is big issue, especially with children.
